Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis (90) made a game-changing play Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. On the final play of the NFL football game against the Los Angeles Rams, Davis blocked a field goal attempt as time expired, then returned it 61 yards for a touchdown. This spectacular play secured an exhilarating 33-26 victory for the Eagles.
The blocked kick was the Eagles’ second blocked field goal of the fourth quarter. The Rams (2-1) had taken a 26-21 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Earlier, Jalen Carter blocked a 36-yard field goal attempt by Rams kicker Joshua Karty. Using that momentum, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts orchestrated a 17-play, 91-yard drive that ended with a go-ahead touchdown, giving Philadelphia the lead.
With 1:48 left on the clock, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford led his team down the field into position for Karty’s 44-yard field goal attempt with just 3 seconds remaining. But Davis burst through the line, blocked the kick, scooped up the ball, and sprinted to the end zone. The crowd at the Linc erupted as Davis’s teammates celebrated the thrilling touchdown that sealed the Eagles’ 12th straight home victory.
The Eagles endured a sluggish first half and trailed 26-7 early in the third quarter after Stafford’s second touchdown pass of the game. Rams kicker Joshua Karty had already connected on four field goals by that point. Last season, the Rams lost a tight NFC divisional-round playoff game to the Eagles, setting the stage for this hard-fought rematch.
The turning point came when Carter, recently fined by the NFL for a spitting incident on opening night, delivered the initial blocked kick. Although flagged for taunting—pushing the Eagles back to their own 9-yard line—that play ignited a much-needed spark.
On the subsequent go-ahead drive, Hurts shook off his earlier struggles and connected with his receivers, who had been largely quiet in the first two-and-a-half games of the season. He completed a 25-yard pass to A.J. Brown, followed by a 10-yard catch by DeVonta Smith. Then Brown broke free for a crucial 23-yard gain before Hurts found Smith in the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal. This touchdown completed an impressive rally from a 19-point deficit.
### What happened to Saquon Barkley?
In contrast to his dominant performances in previous matchups against the Rams—where he rushed for an Eagles-record 255 yards last November and had 205 yards in the playoff rematch—Saquon Barkley was held to just 46 yards on the ground Sunday. Barkley managed only 13 yards rushing in the first half, marking his third consecutive subpar game after rushing for 2,005 yards last season. Coming into this game, he had amassed 148 yards in the first two games of the season.
