In the last 9 years, several web series have dropped digitally and only a handful of them have truly created a cult following. The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee, is surely one of them. Its first season premiered on September 20, 2019, on Amazon Prime Video with minimal expectations. But in no time, it caught on and became a sensation. Season 2 dropped on July 4, 2021, and it also got the same amount of love as its predecessor. The Family Man Season 3 will release on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow, November 21, and it is expected to emerge as one of the most watched shows of the year, if not the most watched show. And Bollywood Hungama has learned that it also has an interesting surprise for the fans. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Vijay Sethupathi has a special appearance in the third season. He’ll reprise the role of Michael Vedanayagam from the much-loved show Farzi (2023). He only appears for a few minutes, but it’s highly entertaining and is also very crucial to the plot. Moreover, his chemistry with the protagonist, Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee), will be lapped up.”Just like The Family Man, Farzi is also directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK aka Raj-DK; further, both shows also premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Interestingly, Raj-DK established the crossover of both shows with Farzi. It featured Chellam Sir (Uday Mahesh), the iconic character from The Family Man Season 2. That’s not all. Farzi also featured a voiceover by Srikant Tiwari. Many fans expected Michael to return only as a voiceover in Season 3, but the makers have instead brought him in as a character, a move that’s bound to delight viewers. Crossovers are common in Indian cinema, but in the digital space, The Family Man x Farzi remains the lone, standout example. With Vijay Sethupathi now stepping into Srikant Tiwari’s world, the Raj and DK spy universe is poised to grow bigger and crazier in the coming years. It has come to light that superstar Salman Khan has a lovely cameo in Gabru. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There was a requirement of a star and the makers knew that Salman Khan fit the bill completely. Salman was approached and he loved the part and its contribution to the film. He quietly shot the film more than a year ago and it has shaped up well.”Sharing more about Salman Khan’s part in the emotional drama, the source added, “Salman Khan’s cameo in Gabru is all heart. It is adorable and also highly entertaining. He has 3 scenes in total and hence, it’s an extended special appearance. Interestingly, both Salman Khan and Sunny Deol are very close, but they have worked together only once, in Jeet (1996). They were also a part of Heroes (2008) but they never shared screen space in the war film. This also gave Salman another reason to sign Gabru.”Apart from Gabru, Salman Khan will be seen in another exciting special appearance in the first half of 2026, in Raja Shivaji. It stars Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while Salman will essay the role of Jiva Mahala, one of Maharaj’s most trusted warriors. While Raja Shivaji releases in cinemas on May 1, Gabru arrives on the big screen on March 13. After making a mark in cinemas, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 will find its way on OTT, on October 31. Prominent streaming giant Amazon Prime Video will stream the film’s original Kannada version, as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, for now. The Hindi version of the period drama will be released digitally a month later. Bollywood Hungama has learned of an interesting development that took place with regard to the digital deal. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers of Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 asked for Rs. 125 crores for the OTT rights, considering the buzz around the film. They approached Netflix and it agreed to offer Rs. 100 crores. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video gave a better deal and offered Rs. 110 crores for the streaming rights. This is how the film has made its way on Prime Video.”This marks the second-highest OTT deal ever for a Kannada film. KGF Chapter 2 (2022) still holds the top spot, with its digital rights fetching over Rs. 300 crores. Interestingly, both KGF and Kantara franchises are backed by Hombale Films, a banner that deserves credit for placing Kannada cinema on the global map through these monumental successes. Kantara starred Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Kishore and Achyuth Kumar in leading roles. It tells the story of a carefree young lad in a forest in Karnataka who rises as a hero when a greedy landlord, believed to be friendly with the villagers, tries to usurp the land treacherously. The villagers are devotees of Panjurli, a demigod protecting the forest’s villagers and this aspect plays an important part in the story. As for Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, it stars Rishab Shetty along with Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram. This film attempts to delve deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. Both films are directed by Rishab Shetty. Interestingly, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 ends with the promise of a sequel named Kantara: A Legend Chapter 2.
