BREAKING: Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat and ALL other films to discontinue in Assam cinemas from October 31; to ONLY play Zubeen Garg’s final film, Roi Roi Binale; all set for a HISTORIC opening

Last month, the nation was plunged into grief following the untimely demise of the iconic singer and actor, Zubeen Garg. Now, his final on-screen appearance, Roi Roi Binale, is gearing up for a historic release this Friday, October 31. In an unprecedented tribute, every cinema hall across his home state of Assam will exclusively screen the film, suspending all other releases to honour their beloved legend. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “All the theatres in the North-eastern state will discontinue the holdover releases like Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, Jolly LLB 3 and Regretting You from October 31. New releases like Baahubali: The Epic, Single Salma, The Taj Story, The Black Phone 2, Bugonia, Good Boy etc. will not be screened in any cinema of Assam. Each and every theatre in that state will only play Roi Roi Binale.”The advance booking for Roi Roi Binale has commenced and by Wednesday, almost all shows are sold out or nearly sold out. Shows begin as early as 6: 00 am in Assam’s capital, Guwahati. But in Tezpur, shows commence even before 6: 00 am. While SVF Cinemas in Tezpur will play the first show at 5: 45 am, Imp Cinemas’ first show is at 5: 20 am. TNZ Cinemas will play the first ever show in the whole of India at 5: 00 am. Outside of Assam, too, the response to the advance booking of Roi Roi Binale has been extraordinary. Even in places like Ahmedabad and Jaipur, its shows are fast-filling. The trade source further said, “The ticket sales of Roi Roi Binale in Assam is historic. Almost all shows over the weekend are full and shows of the weekdays are also filling fast. It seems like the film will break every record of all the films in the Assam circuit.”In Roi Roi Binale, Zubeen Garg plays a blind artist and it also stars Mousumi Alifa, Joy Kashyap, Achurjya Borpatra and others. The film is written by Zubeen Garg, and he was also one of its producers along with his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and Shyamantak Gautam. EXCLUSIVE: Runtime Breakdown – First Half of Baahubali: The Epic is 1 hour 42 minutes, second half is over 2 Hours

This Friday will see the release of Baahubali: The Epic. It combines two Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) into one part, as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the former. This is a novel experiment and has probably never been done before in the world. Some moviegoers and industry personalities doubted if viewers would rewatch a film that they have consumed repeatedly and that too in this unique form. However, the risk seems to have paid off. The advance booking down South and Overseas for the original Telugu audience is outstanding. It is common knowledge that Baahubali: The Epic has a run time of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Bollywood Hungama has now learned about the duration of the first half and second half of the film. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “The pre-interval portion of Baahubali: The Epic is 1 hours 42 minutes and 33 seconds long. The second half is longer than 2 hours. The exact length of the second half is 2 hours, 3 minutes and 11 seconds. The total duration of the film, thus, is 3 hours 45 minutes and 44 seconds.”Just 1 intervalIn the past, such lengthy films have had not one, but two intermission points. Old-timers recollect that Raj Kapoor-starrer Sangam (1964), which was 238 minutes long, that is, 3 hours and 58 minutes long, had two intervals. Mera Naam Joker (1970) was 255 minutes long, that is, 4 hours and 15 minutes, and it also had two interval points. In recent times, Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) had an interval twice after the longer cut was released in cinemas. Over the years, the twin interval system was dropped. Films like Mohabbatein (2000; 215 minutes), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001; 210 minutes), Animal (2023; 203 minutes), The Bengal Files (2025; 204 minutes) etc. have been released with just one intermission point. Coming back to Baahubali: The Epic, Baahubali: The Beginning had a runtime of 159 minutes, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion clocked 167 minutes. This means that together, the two parts originally ran for a total of 326 minutes, or 5 hours and 26 minutes. In contrast, Baahubali: The Epic is just 225 minutes long, making it shorter by 101 minutes. It remains to be seen how the makers have condensed the two monumental chapters of the saga into one cohesive narrative without compromising on the grandeur, emotion, and continuity that made Baahubali a cultural phenomenon. EXCLUSIVE: Vicky Kaushal-starrer Mahavatar to go on floors in mid-2026; Amar Kaushik shares EXCITING details: “The prep is going on for 6-7 months. Mujhe toh soch ke hi darr lag raha hai”

Before the audience sat down to watch the grand Diwali release, Thamma, they were treated to a 60-second-long announcement promo for Shakti Shalini. The teaser confirmed that Aneet Padda would play the lead and also that it would be out on December 24, 2026. This was the date that was earlier booked for Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films. Maddock is also the producer of Thamma with Amar serving as one of its producers and mentors. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Amar opened up on Mahavatar and why it is his most ambitious film to date. When asked if Mahavatar has been postponed, Amar Kaushik replied, “Yes. The prep is going on for 6-7 months. Mujhe toh soch ke hi darr lag raha hai. We have worked on the set design, weapon design, how every character would look, etc. The scripting is done. Yet, we need more time. Vicky will finish his other commitments and after that, he’ll also start his preparation. Hence, we hope to go on floors by mid-next year.”Amar Kaushaik continued, “For me, it is a huge passion project. When I was in school in Arunachal Pradesh, there used to be a Parshuram Kund close by. I used to ask my mother who Parshuram was but I was told not to talk much about it. I was only told that he was quite hot-tempered. Hence, I was quite fascinated by the character. When I read about it later in life, I was wowed and kept wondering, ‘Will I ever be able to make a film on this subject?’. Now, I have reached a stage where I have an understanding and experience of using VFX. That gave me the confidence to pull it off.”The timing is apt as Amar has just delivered Stree 2 (2024), the highest Bollywood grosser of all time. Did that also give confidence to Dinesh Vijan to entrust such a big responsibility to Amar Kaushik? Amar answered, “Yes, that always happens. If you haven’t proved yourself, why would anyone entrust you with such responsibility? Agar aapke bade sapne hai, toh chhote sapne toh poore karo pehle (smiles). In fact, I wouldn’t have taken up the film earlier in my career. Mujhe toh abhi bhi darr lag raha hai!”Also Read: BREAKING! Sonu Sood’s next as director and actor is an action film based in Bihar

Actor-filmmaker-activist Sonu Sood, who made a huge impact as a philanthropist during the COVID endemic, is ready to direct a new film, this time based on Bihar’s socio-political scenario.Speaking exclusively on this, Sonu Sood said, “I have just finished writing the film.
