Crusader Kings 3 devs on All Under Heaven expansion & improving the base game

Crusader Kings 3 has continued to receive a wealth of interesting content since Paradox Interactive released it in 2020. The latest addition has expanded the map to include most of Asia, bringing Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian content to its grand strategy roots.

Even this far into the game’s lifespan, Paradox remains dedicated to delivering more for the fans who want to keep exploring new possibilities in Crusader Kings 3 and its expansions. I had the opportunity to speak with QA Manager Riad Deneche and Producer Lucia Dzediti about how the game has evolved and how the team keeps the base experience fresh, even as they introduce exciting new content.

The new All Under Heaven expansion has been a long time coming. While the Asian continent has lingered on the periphery of Crusader Kings 3 campaigns since launch, we’ve only had features like the Silk Road economic storyline to hint at the rich history there. All Under Heaven finally answers the longstanding requests to include Asian politics and leaders, offering a wealth of famous rulers spread throughout China and the rest of the continent.

Paradox is proud to take on this fan request, and the team invested significant effort to ensure the storylines of far Eastern leaders were honored. According to the developers, the historical research and implementation proved to be some of the most rewarding aspects of the process.

Importantly, All Under Heaven doesn’t neglect players who prefer to focus on Western civilizations. The Silk Road storylines have been expanded, and additional content ensures that the stories and politics introduced in this expansion will influence even Western campaigns, should you choose to pursue them.

With each new update, Crusader Kings 3 continues to broaden its world and deepen its narrative scope, offering something fresh for veterans and newcomers alike.
