This 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is one of 2,025 Commemorative Edition models produced to celebrate the C5-R’s class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is powered by a 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine linked to a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential.
The car is finished in Le Mans Blue over black and blue leather interior. Equipment highlights include Commemorative Edition-specific polished lightweight wheels, a carbon-fiber hood, and a titanium exhaust system. Additional features include a Sony head unit, a rearview camera, aftermarket speakers, and a head-up display.
Purchased by the seller in 2021, this C5 Z06 has 96,000 miles and is now offered at no reserve with a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The C5 Z06 was only offered as a fixed-roof coupe for increased chassis stiffness, featuring a quad-exit titanium exhaust system, mesh grille inserts, and weight-saving measures such as thinner glass and reduced sound deadening compared to the standard C5. All 2004 Commemorative Edition Z06 models were finished in Le Mans Blue (19U) with a carbon-fiber hood. This particular example’s silver and red decal stripes have been removed.
Additional exterior features include commemorative Le Mans badging, pop-up headlights, and rear brake vents. The polished 17″ and 18″ lightweight alloy wheels wear Commemorative Edition center caps and are mounted with Continental tires.
The Carfax report indicates an accident in February 2017 and damage in December 2021. The latter resulted in repairs to the left fender, per the seller. The right quarter panel has also been repaired and repainted, while the left quarter panel has scratches. The left side mirror is foggy and should be replaced.
Underneath, the Z06 suspension features a larger front stabilizer bar, increased damping, and a higher spring rate than the standard Corvette. The car is equipped with active handling and traction control systems, speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion power steering, and ventilated disc brakes on all four corners.
Inside, the cabin features two replacement seats that were installed in 2021, trimmed in black and blue leather with Corvette logos embroidered on the headrests. Interior amenities include a Sony head unit with Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rearview camera, aftermarket speakers, blue ambient lighting, a head-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, an onboard computer, and cruise control.
Some interior issues include a driver’s seat motor that needs replacement, as well as the driver’s seat left plastic panel. The left sun visor is also broken.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, alongside gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 96,000 miles, approximately 34,000 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.7-liter LS6 V8 engine is based on the contemporary LS1 and features a refined aluminum block, a higher-lift camshaft, a 10.5:1 compression ratio, and increased air and oil flow. Factory-rated output for the 2004 model year was 405 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The seller notes that the harmonic balancer wobbles. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and a 3.42:1 limited-slip differential. The clutch was rebuilt in August 2022.
This distinctive 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition presents a unique opportunity to own a well-equipped and rare example of the C5 generation, combining impressive performance with exclusive styling and commemorative touches.
