Three days remain until the much-awaited Diwali release of the grand horror comedy, **Thamma**, and excitement is steadily building among moviegoers. The makers, Maddock Films, have completed the censor certification process on time. In this exclusive report, Bollywood Hungama takes a closer look at the cuts requested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for the film.
**EXCLUSIVE: CBFC reduces kissing scene in Thamma by 5 seconds; replaces ‘Azaadi doonga’ with ‘Aiyaashi karata hoon’**
The CBFC mandated several audio and visual changes in the film. Here are the key modifications:
– The word **’Alexander’** was replaced with **‘Sikandar’**.
– In another dialogue, the word **‘Ashwathama’** was muted.
– In the second half of the movie, the phrase **‘Azaadi doonga’** was replaced with **‘Aiyaashi karata hoon’**.
– The Examining Committee requested the makers to **reduce the slurping sound of drinking blood to a minimum**.
– A kissing scene in the film’s second half was reduced by **30%, equating to a 5-second cut**.
While the reduction of the kissing scene may slightly disappoint audiences, it is noteworthy that this is one of the shortest intimacy-related cuts mandated by the CBFC in recent times. For context, other recent films faced much heavier censorship:
– *Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari* saw liplock visuals reduced by 60%.
– *Saiyaara* had 10 seconds of sensual and intimate body exposure visuals deleted and replaced.
– *Superman* faced a 33-second cut of sensual visuals, which led to significant criticism as the studio had to make abrupt edits to comply with CBFC directives.
Returning to *Thamma*, once the requested changes were implemented, the censor certificate was issued on October 15. The film received a **U/A 16+ rating**.
According to the censor certificate, the runtime of *Thamma* is **149 minutes and 59 seconds** — that is, 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 59 seconds.
*Thamma* is set to release on **Tuesday, October 21**. The film stars **Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal**. Produced by the blockbuster producer **Dinesh Vijan** under his banner Maddock Films, the movie is directed by **Aditya Sarpotdar**, known for *Munjya* (2024).
