Politicizing Insecurity In Kebbi Is A Disservice To The People – Gov Idris

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has cautioned politicians and stakeholders against politicizing the state’s security challenges. He described such actions as harmful to collective peace and development, stressing the need for unity in addressing insecurity.

Speaking on Wednesday during the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum Annual Conference and Economic Development Summit held in Birnin Kebbi, Idris emphasized that insecurity should be treated as a common problem. He added that it should never be used as a tool for political attacks or personal gain.

“The security of the people should not be politicized. The issue is not about me; it is about the state. Those doing so are enemies of the state,” the governor said.

He further noted that those spreading falsehoods about the security situation in the state were only trying to score cheap political points at the expense of Kebbi’s image.

Idris emphasized that no state in Nigeria is completely immune from insecurity, highlighting that the situation requires unity and collaboration, not division. He called on members of the Elders Forum to caution individuals who use insecurity as a political weapon, warning that such conduct undermines ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.

“My administration remains fully committed to supporting security agencies with logistics, vehicles, and necessary funding to fight banditry and other criminal activities, especially in the southern part of the state,” he assured.

Governor Idris also reiterated his administration’s resolve to work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security operatives to ensure the safety of lives and property.

“We will not relent until peace returns to every corner of Kebbi State,” he added.
