**Jabalpur High Court Stays Transfer Order of 200 Eklavya Residential School Teachers in Madhya Pradesh**
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Jabalpur High Court has stayed the transfer order affecting 200 teachers of Eklavya Residential Schools across Madhya Pradesh. A single bench of Justice Maninder Singh Bhatti found the directive to transfer these teachers to Khandwa unjustified and temporarily halted its execution.
The transfer order, dated September 23, 2025, involved teachers posted at various Eklavya Residential Schools in Jabalpur and other districts being relocated collectively to Khandwa. Among the affected teachers is petitioner Upma Shandilya, who is currently serving at the Eklavya Residential School in Rampur Chhapar.
Advocate Sudha Gautam, representing the petitioner, explained that Upma Shandilya was posted to Rampur Chhapar in 2024 to assume a higher position. Subsequently, on November 11, 2024, the Divisional Commissioner of Jabalpur issued a letter stating that no vacancies were available in Eklavya schools and requested the teachers to submit their transfer options.
In response, the petitioner submitted preferences for Eklavya Vidyalayas at Rampur Chhapar, Ranjhi, and Sadar. However, these options were overlooked, and the transfer to Khandwa was mandated nonetheless.
Challenging the order, the matter was brought before the High Court. After reviewing the case, the court deemed the September 23, 2025 transfer order unreasonable and imposed a stay, allowing the teachers to remain at their current postings in the Eklavya Residential Schools.
The decision provides temporary relief to the teachers while the matter undergoes further judicial consideration.
