Quest Overview

This side mission becomes available as soon as you unlock the Terminus Range biome after defeating the Oppressor (main story boss) and speaking to Zadra in her lab. The quest is given by a Ripper NPC named Brody Sattva, who is eager to help the Vault Hunter achieve inner peace.
He hands you a “mood rock” and tasks you with completing several objectives as part of your journey toward enlightenment.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1. Talk to Brody Sattva and pick up the “Ego Prism” quest item to begin the Sage Against the Machine side mission.
2. Find the Path of Opportunities. This objective leads you to a location called Crueltown within the Terminus Range, which is overrun with Ripper enemies. As typical in Borderlands 4, you must kill all Rippers spawning in this area to progress.
3. Locate the Stones of Balance. This involves a platforming challenge. You need to climb a towering shack to reach the marked vantage point. Reach the upper floor, climb the ladder, and get onto the roof. From there, glide across to the hanging platform and hop over to the marked rocks.
Once there, place the mood rock onto the rock pile. Wait for Brody Sattva to finish talking, then pick the mood rock back up.
4. Reach the Den of Acceptance. This area is just a short glide away from the Stones of Balance platform. Upon arrival, you will encounter a Splice Ripper named Ricky Roles. You have the option to either talk to him or smack him (using the melee button). Regardless of your choice, the outcome is the same — a swarm of Splice Rippers will spawn, and you need to defeat them all.
5. Return to Brody Sattva, who will be waiting at a nearby counter. Talk to him, place the mood rock down, and flip it over as requested.
Afterwards, Brody will offer a bonus reward found in a nearby money box. Though the amount is modest, it supplements your quest rewards.
What Happens Next?
Following the conclusion of this mission, Brody Sattva’s next client arrives — a new NPC known as the Wayward Soul, who is frightened by the Ripper’s appearance. This encounter leads to Brody’s untimely demise.
You can then speak to the Wayward Soul to begin another side quest titled, “The Next Quest Thing.”
