Fans of “9-1-1,” get ready—season nine is shaping up to be truly out of this world. Literally. ABC has just released the trailer for the highly anticipated premiere, and it promises plenty of drama and excitement.
Mark Consuelos guest stars as CEO Tripp Houser, who finds himself in a perilous situation when he is swallowed by a massive whale while kayaking. Fortunately, the 118 team arrives just in time to rescue him. Hen, portrayed by Aisha Hinds, administers life-saving CPR, earning Houser’s heartfelt gratitude. In appreciation, Houser offers to reward Hen by sending her to space—along with a guest of her choosing.
Hen first invites her wife Karen (played by Tracie Thoms), but Karen declines. Undeterred, Hen convinces Athena (Angela Bassett) to accompany her on this extraordinary journey. The entire 118 team gathers to watch as the space voyage begins. Yet, as always with “9-1-1,” nothing goes according to plan.
Just as the spaceship is about to launch, Houser is alerted to an incoming geomagnetic storm. Despite expert advice to abort the mission, Houser pushes forward. Soon after takeoff, all contact with the ship is lost due to the storm, triggering chaos on the ground.
In a recent interview with On The Red Carpet, Ryan Guzman, who plays Eddie, teased some intense moments ahead. “There’s always something crazy going on, and we’ve definitely got something crazy this season too,” he said. Guzman urged fans to prepare themselves, especially for the first three episodes. “The first one is more of an ease-in, but episodes two and three will have you clutching your pearls, truly understanding the weight of the environment we’re in. I’m trying not to give too much away, but one of our main leads is going to be in a dire situation,” he teased.
The trailer’s cliffhanger shows Hen grabbing onto Athena, holding on tightly as Athena drifts farther and farther out of the spaceship. Insert shocked emoji right here!
“9-1-1” premieres October 9 at 8 PM EST / 7 PM CST on ABC. New episodes will also stream the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. Fun fact: The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC.
