On October 1, 2025, the Philippines will mark the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic events in boxing history: the “Thrilla in Manila.” This legendary heavyweight match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier was held in 1975 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
To commemorate this historic event, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has directed government agencies to support a nationwide celebration. The anniversary will highlight the significance of the match not only in sports history but also in Philippine cultural heritage.
