The Philippines said it would fail to meet its UN development goal on halving poverty levels by 2015 after even more people were added to the ranks of the poor in recent years. MANILA, Philippines – A widening corruption inquiry into flood control projects threatens to cast a shadow over the Philippines’ growth outlook, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) warned.

The intensifying scrutiny may slow the government’s infrastructure push, raising concerns about future development plans.

Speaking at a press conference in Manila, Andrew Jeffries, the ADB’s country director for the Philippines, said the scandal’s impact could be significant for the country’s economic progress.
