**NMMC Demolition Drive Clears Unauthorized Construction in Belapur**
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Encroachment Department conducted a demolition drive on Monday targeting unauthorized construction in Belapur. The action was initiated after repeated notices to the concerned party were ignored.
This operation was carried out under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with guidance from Additional Commissioner (II) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr. Kailas Gaikwad.
### Notice Issued Under MRTP Act
Officials revealed that a notice under Section 54 of the MRTP Act had earlier been served to Laxmi Kashinath Bose, owner of House No. 1215/02 in Divale village, Sector 14, Navi Mumbai. The notice directed her to remove the unauthorized construction voluntarily. However, the illegal construction continued despite this warning.
### Details of the Demolition Operation
Following non-compliance, the encroachment team organized a demolition drive to clear the unauthorized structure. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner Dr. Amol Palwe and Assistant Engineer Atmaram Kale, supported by 10 laborers. Equipment used included three hammers, one gas cutter, and one poclain machine. Additionally, police personnel and security guards from the encroachment department were deployed to maintain order at the site.

### NMMC’s Stand on Encroachments
An NMMC official stated, “Despite repeated notices, the illegal construction was not removed. We were left with no option but to demolish it. This is part of our ongoing campaign against encroachments, and similar actions will be intensified in the future.”

The civic body has reiterated its commitment to taking strict measures to curb unauthorized constructions across all its wards. NMMC assures citizens that such steps will continue to maintain order and proper urban development within Navi Mumbai.
