**Delhi Metro Launches Campaign to Curb Social Media Content Creation Inside Trains**
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a campaign aimed at discouraging commuters from creating social media content while onboard metro trains. Launched on September 14, the campaign is set to be implemented across the entire Delhi Metro network this week, according to a DMRC official quoted by Hindustan Times.
### Passenger Experience: Measures to Improve Comfort
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, explained that these steps are designed to enhance passenger comfort. He said, “This step has been taken to ensure that fellow passengers are not inconvenienced due to such activity.”
As part of the campaign, new in-train announcements have been introduced, cautioning commuters against recording reels or playing loud music inside coaches. These announcements are made in both English and Hindi, complementing existing rules such as prohibiting sitting on the floor or eating inside the metro coaches.
### Legal Framework: What the Law Says
While the Metro Railways Act, 2002, does not explicitly ban shooting reels on metro trains, offenders can be fined for “creating a nuisance” under existing provisions that address disruptive behavior in metro stations and coaches.
The decision to broadcast these announcements comes amid a rise in the use of Delhi Metro as a popular location for filming video content, which has increasingly caused inconvenience to other passengers.
### Enforcement Challenges and Past Incidents
In 2023, the DMRC expanded the role of its flying squads—initially focused on preventing unauthorized entry into women’s coaches—to also monitor commuters engaging in objectionable content creation, according to The Times of India.
In a related enforcement example, a 25-year-old commuter was arrested in April 2025 for allegedly drinking alcohol inside a metro coach, highlighting the corporation’s efforts to maintain discipline within the network.
The ongoing campaign reflects DMRC’s commitment to ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for all commuters by minimizing disruptions caused by social media activities on metro trains.
