### Strong Seam Attack Confident to Deliver
Sammy believes that the seam attack selected for the tour has “the variety” needed to “operate in any conditions” and is capable of “picking 20 wickets.” The West Indies pace attack for the Test series features Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales, along with all-rounder Justin Greaves.
Despite the fact that the West Indies have not won a Test series in India for 42 years, Sammy is confident that the bowling line-up can achieve the elusive target of 20 wickets. “We have found ourselves in a position where our seam attack could operate in any conditions,” he said during a recent press conference.

### Consistent Bowling Strategy Key to Success
Sammy emphasized the importance of a consistent bowling strategy, stating, “The lines and lengths don’t change.” He expressed full confidence in this approach, adding, “It makes me smile knowing that we go out bowling and we take 20 wickets. And that’s the first objective in the Test match.”
The coach also drew inspiration from New Zealand’s recent success against India, highlighting it as motivation for his team.

### Focused Preparation Ahead of the Tour
As the current coach of St Lucia Kings in CPL 2025, Sammy has dedicated the last six weeks working closely with Test captain Roston Chase to prepare for the India tour. Together, they have analyzed extensive data to select the “best squad” suited for specific roles based on their skill sets.
He explained, “From my end, the 10 days leading up to [the first] Test match [in India], we’ll be drilling in all these things.”

### Changes in the West Indies Squad
The West Indies have made some significant adjustments to their squad for the India tour. Former captain Kraigg Brathwaite has been dropped from the 15-man squad, while Alick Athanaze and Tagenarine Chanderpaul have been recalled.
Sammy clarified that Chanderpaul’s inclusion was based on his current form, statistics, and the other options that were available to the selectors.

### Spin Attack Tailored for Indian Conditions
Regarding the spin attack, Sammy explained that Athanaze’s return considers the conditions expected in India. “We don’t just stay there and just pick and pluck players from nowhere. We do a lot of information, a lot of data collected,” he said.
The West Indies spin attack for the India tour includes Jomel Warrican, uncapped Khary Pierre, and captain Roston Chase himself.

With a blend of youth and experience, and a strategy rooted in consistency and preparation, West Indies aim to make a mark in India and end their long wait for a Test series win on Indian soil.
