Beyond Good and Evil 2 director says Ubisoft is committed to its launch despite reorganization

Last week, Ubisoft shocked many of its fans by canceling the *Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time* remake, alongside other game cancellations and studio closures. The company claims to be reorganizing, and its ecosystem has changed drastically. However, one of the more high-profile games left in question was *Beyond Good and Evil 2*.

Today, the game’s creative director, Fawzi Mesmar, assured fans that Ubisoft remains committed to the project. He confirmed that the development of *Beyond Good and Evil 2* is unaffected by the recent closures.

Mesmar shared a statement on his LinkedIn profile addressing the state of *Beyond Good and Evil 2* following Ubisoft’s reorganization announcement. He mainly emphasized that development continues on the game despite past challenges.

*Beyond Good and Evil 2* has faced numerous delays and difficulties throughout the couple of decades it’s been in development. Back in 2021, fans were still being reassured that the game wasn’t canceled, and while a few things have improved since then, many challenges remain.

Tragically, the game’s original director, Emile Morel, passed away in 2023. Following this, Fawzi Mesmar took over the creative director role in late 2024, continuing the work to bring the highly anticipated sequel to life.
