Knicks Get Major Karl-Anthony Towns Injury Update For NBA Cup

The New York Knicks have been one of the healthier teams in the NBA this season, despite most of their stars missing at least one game. However, Karl-Anthony Towns was the latest star player to hit the injury report. Towns missed the Knicks’ recent game against the Orlando Magic due to calf tightness.

Fortunately, the center is set to return for the team’s NBA Cup quarterfinal matchup against the Toronto Raptors.

“Karl-Anthony Towns is warming up with intention of playing tonight in the NBA Cup quarterfinals,” Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reported. This was later confirmed by James L. Edwards of The Athletic, who confirmed that Towns will take the floor against the Raptors.

In 22 games this season, Towns is averaging 22.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on 46.7% shooting. Although he faced some criticism after a shaky start to the year, Towns has since become a dominant double-double machine for the Knicks, who currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 16-7 record.

### Karl-Anthony Towns Injury Update

Towns participated in practice and shootaround earlier on the day of the game. After being listed as ‘iffy’ just hours before tipoff, he is now expected to play, having missed only one contest this season. The game against the Magic was the only one Towns has sat out so far, with only Mikal Bridges remaining as the Knicks player who has yet to miss a game this year.

“Towns missed Sunday’s game against the Magic due to left calf tightness. He was initially listed as questionable for Tuesday’s NBA Cup contest, but it appears the veteran big man will be available to play,” CBS Sports added.

Though Towns was very healthy during the first few seasons of his career, injuries have become more of a concern over the past couple of years. He suited up in 72 games for New York last season, but with his play style, he is always at risk for an unseen injury. Still, he has been consistent over the past few weeks, finding a strong rhythm alongside franchise star Jalen Brunson under new head coach Mike Brown.

### Miles McBride Injury Update

While Towns’ return is a positive sign for the Knicks, he isn’t the only player dealing with injury concerns. Miles McBride recently suffered an ankle injury and could potentially be sidelined for a few weeks.

“Miles McBride is undergoing an MRI today on his ankle, according to Mike Brown. He left the practice facility today in a walking boot,” Bondy wrote on X.

Before sharing the news about Towns, Bondy also mentioned that the results of McBride’s testing were not encouraging. “Miles McBride is undergoing further tests on his injured ankle, according to Mike Brown,” Bondy reported. “I heard McBride suffered a high ankle sprain.”

The Knicks will be monitoring McBride’s condition closely as they navigate the remainder of the season, but for now, having Towns back on the floor is a key boost for the team heading into the NBA Cup quarterfinals.
