SPOILERS: This post contains details about the Pluribus episode ‘Got Milk’ Vince Gilligan snuck another meaningful cameo into this week’s Pluribus, which also served as a mini Better Call Saul reunion. Rhea Seehorn recently confirmed that the voice of the Others’ phone answering service in Wednesday’s episode ‘Got Milk’, now available to stream on Apple TV+, was none other than Patrick Fabian, who played Kim Wexler’s (Seehorn) boss Howard Hamlin on AMC‘s Breaking Bad spin-off. “They surprised me. I did not know about this,” she told TV Guide about Fabian’s cameo, which the crew saved as a secret until Seehorn picked up the phone in the Pluribus scene. After her romance author character Carol caused Zosia (Karolina Wydra) to have a heart attack while drugging her in attempt to extract information on how to defeat the Others, the hive deserts her in Albuquerque with nothing but the answering service to help her. “They were hoping to get some kind of blooper take from me, but I was so terrified to mess up a take,” she explained of the initial take. “Not terrified, but I just didn’t want to because I knew it was a long take, too, the first time she hears it.” Seehorn added, “I don’t know which take they actually use, but I think if you got one of those psychologists or psychiatrists that study micro facial muscle changes, I’m pretty sure you could see me go, What? Patrick? But then I tried to cover and play the scene. They called cut, and I started laughing and ran out and said, ‘That’s Patrick! You got Patrick!’ And they said they’d been sitting on it for a long time, just to screw with me.” Fabian starred alongside Seehorn for the entirety of Better Call Saul‘s six-season run from 2015 to 2022, playing the law partner of Saul’s (Bob Odenkirk) brother Chuck McGill (Michael McKean) at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill, where Kim works her way up throughout the series. “Let’s face it, even if it wasn’t an Easter egg from Better Call Saul, Patrick Fabian does have one of the all-time great voices that I would imagine that the Others would have voted as one of the most soothing voices to be on the outgoing message, so I understand the decision,” said Seehorn.
