One of Constance’s most difficult boss fights is the magic card fight in the Chaotic Carnival. To win this fight, you need to learn all of the cards’ attacks and how to properly dodge them How to beat the magic card boss fight in Constance This fight is tricky because there are a lot of moves to memorize. Each card suit has a different attack. At the start of the fight, four blank, electrified cards will be presented. You’ll need to Paint Stab one of the cards at random. The card you chose will then be revealed, and the type of attack that you’ll have to deal with next will depend on the suit that card has. Spade cards will fly toward you from varying directions in groups of up to three cards at a time. Diamond cards will scroll in a straight line from the left and/or right of the screen. Club cards drop down from the top of the screen in several patterns. It’s important to note that it’s impossible to attack these cards, you only need to worry about dodging them. Be mindful that these cards can move in quick and unpredictable ways, though, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet during this entire fight. How to dodge the spade cards in Constance The spade is probably the trickiest set of cards to dodge in this fight. These cards will fly toward you from all different directions. Up to three cards at a time will fly toward you, and cards will show up on screen very quickly after the previous card(s) have left. Try your best to either jump or Paint Dive through these cards. The direction each card can get can be disorienting, so stay focused and you can easily get through this sequence. It’s easy to get tripped up when three cards are approaching from the left, right, and center. If you get caught with this combo, you can avoid getting hit by jumping over one of the cards on the side and returning to the center before landing. Additionally, some of the cards in this sequence may be electrocuted. Your best bet in this situation is to Paint Stab the electrified card, instead of trying to jump, as you don’t want to accidentally hit these cards since you can’t Paint Dive through them. How to dodge the diamond cards in Constance The diamond cards are the easiest to avoid, as these attacks have a very straightforward choreography. These cards move in a straight line either from the ground or in the air, directly above your head. The method to avoid this moveset is simple. When there is more than one card approaching you from the ground, you need to jump or jump and Paint Dive over them. When the cards on the ground are approaching one at a time, and there are multiple cards approaching in the air, you’ll need to Paint Dive through the cards on the ground. Occasionally a ground card will be electrified, in which case you’ll Paint Stab the card instead of diving through. How to dodge the club cards in Constance The club card’s moveset might look daunting, but it’s actually quite predictable. These cards will drop down from the air in patterns. These patterns include: All cards drop in a straight line, one after another. Cards drop in groups of two or three. Every other card drops, alternating for a few turns. All cards drop but the middle two. When all of the cards drop one after another, you wait for the card above you to almost hit you before dodging through the previously dropped card. When the cards drop in groups of two or three, run or Paint Dive toward safety. When every other card drops, walk toward the space where a card will not drop. The cards that drop will alternate, so you’ll need to walk back and forth between two adjacent cards. When all but the middle two cards drop, stand in the middle and wait. A card from the left and right will rise to the top. Jump and Paint Dive over to either one of these spaces that have just opened up in order to avoid being hit by the two cards in the middle that will drop shortly after. Sometimes, a few of these cards can be electrified. When any of the cards are electrified, do your best to stay as far away from them as possible, as attempting to Paint Stab is very difficult, and sometimes impossible depending on where you’re standing. Eventually, after avoiding these cards a few times, the actual boss will drop to the ground, allowing you to whack it a few times to finally deal some damage. There is a brief moment where the boss will hover in the air before actually falling down. You can use this time to drop a Paint Clone for some extra damage.
