We, as photographers, often look for ways to expand our photography skills. Kolari Vision offers tools like infrared filters and converted cameras that work well with Canon RF and EF mount models. I’ve long been a fan of Kolari, and at last count, I think they have converted over 7 or 8 camera bodies for me. Their Black Friday sale runs through the holiday season in 2025. Please note that exact prices may change over the holiday season, so check the site for the latest. Clip-in Filters for Canon RF Mount Clip-in filters install inside the camera body. This setup lets you use the filters with any compatible lens without swapping filters each time. If you are the type of photographer who swaps lenses in the field a lot and wants to use filters, then this is really meant for you. For others, this is usually a far more economical way of getting a filter that will work with all your lenses, regardless of the front filter size. You can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars this way. They are great for infrared shots, which turn green leaves white, or for astrophotography by cutting city light pollution. You can also get standard ND filters for both long exposure stills photography and video. The clip-in filters come in different thicknesses, and the slimmer ones cost more money but offer the widest compatibility. Since this filter sits in between the lens and the camera, there’s the possibility that the lens will sit far enough back into the mount that it would hit the filter. I recommend personally that you spend a little more money and always get the ultra slim clip-in filters. Professional Filters I have used Kolari professional filters since they first came out. I think I’ve used every single generation and found them to be fantastic. Since most of my cameras at one time or another went in for camera conversions, mostly full-spectrum conversions, I would use filters in front of my lenses to change how I wanted the image to look, from color to the striking IR Chrome. Kolari makes a wide variety of filters from ND to Infrared and Astrophotography. For a limited time, Kolari has its filters on sale for up to 40% off their normal price, resulting in fantastic savings. Camera Conversions Kolari takes your Canon camera or sells pre-converted ones and modifies the sensor assembly to capture infrared light. This involves taking the entire camera apart and removing the low-pass filter that sits in front of the sensor and replacing it with either another specific filter or a clear filter to allow all the light through. A full spectrum conversion allows all the light through, a dual spectrum conversion allows a normal color spectrum range and IR, and cuts off UV. I find dual spectrum to be the best for me, personally. I love the look of infrared just because of what it can do to change the look of more polluted water environments that we face every day. While at times it’s good to document all that, you just want something to look good. Also, with infrared, you can use an infrared camera when you traditionally wouldn’t be using a color camera, for instance, in midday full sunlight. Right now, Kolari is offering up to $75 off the conversion of your Canon camera, either a DSLR or a Mirrorless camera.
