Former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel recently shared a funny incident from his first broadcasting stint. The 40-year-old revealed that his commentary career kicked off with the 2017 Women’s World Cup. Ad Parthiv recalled that he was part of the commentary team when India’s Harmanpreet Kaur played a stunning, unbeaten 171-run knock off 115 balls in the semifinal against Australia. He disclosed that during the game, he ended up communicating with his producer while being on-air. Speaking about the goof-up, Parthiv said on ‘The Lavari Show’: I started doing commentary in the 2017 Women’s World Cup, where Harmanpreet Kaur scored 175 runs (171* runs) against Australia. Obviously, 175 is a big score, and it is going to be shown again and again. So, the producer kept saying, Harman’s innings coming up. So, I was live and was speaking about some other point, and ended up saying, ‘Haan ayega tab bata dunga na. (Yes, I will speak about it when it comes)’ It went live because I had not pressed the lazy button.” Ad Trending Harmanpreet’s heroics helped India beat Australia by 36 runs in the knockout clash. However, the Women in Blue suffered a nine-run defeat to England in the subsequent final. “He even did Bhangra and asked me to do Garba” Ex-RCB star Parthiv Patel shares his experience of commentating alongside Navjot Singh Sidhu Parthiv Patel also spoke about doing commentary with former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. He hilariously stated that the veteran commentator asked him to perform ‘Garba’ (a Gujarati folk dance) after a match. Ad Parthiv said during the same show: “I’ve done commentary with him just once. We were in the box during the India-England Test match. It was like he was doing commentary, and I was just next to him. There is a lot to learn from him. The knowledge he has and how he prepares, he taught me all of that. I really enjoyed it. It is fun to hear him talk. He even did Bhangra and asked me to do Garba.” Ad It is worth mentioning that apart from RCB, Parthiv played for five other teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He represented Deccan Chargers, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Mumbai Indians (MI).
