LOS ANGELES The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles convened Filipino American business leaders and Chamber of Commerce representatives for a roundtable discussion on tax policy reforms in the Philippines on November 6, 2025. The event was co-hosted with Raymond “Mon” Abrea, founding chairman and chief tax advisor of the Asian Consulting Group (ACG), who also made a courtesy call on Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz and Consul Francis Maynard Maleon ahead of the discussion. In his welcome remarks, Consul General Cruz thanked Abrea for engaging the community on developments in Philippine tax legislation. He said the session offered timely reassurance for Filipino American investors and business owners who continue to operate in or expand to the Philippines. Abrea delivered a presentation on the CREATE MORE Tax measure, also known as the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy. He explained that its implementation and compliance are expected to support the country’s long-term economic transformation. He also outlined ACG’s tax policy proposals, which he said are aimed at strengthening the Philippines’ overall tax framework. Participants raised questions about how the Filipino American business community can contribute to the Philippine economy. Abrea responded that international dialogues such as the roundtable allow stakeholders to exchange feedback on ongoing reforms. He encouraged the group to explore sustainable investment opportunities in the Philippines.
