Teddy Long Pitches Brock Lesnar For John Cena’s Final Match

On the “Road Trip After Hours” podcast, host Mac Davis responded to a viewer question about John Cena’s final match. Davis expressed his disappointment with the current tournament format being used to determine Cena’s last opponent, stating it lacks the necessary build.

“Here’s the problem, though, Teddy, they’re doing a tournament now to find out who’s going to wrestle John Cena in this final match. I’m sorry, but this is there’s no excitement for me building up to his final match,” Davis said.

“We’re just a few weeks away from his very last match. I want to be excited about this match, but honestly, the tournament doesn’t excite me. They should have had somebody already built up where this has been going on for weeks now, leading up to that big fight feel on his last match, and I don’t feel it whatsoever.”

**Teddy Long Suggests Brock Lesnar**

When asked who he would like to see face Cena, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long suggested Brock Lesnar and pitched a potential storyline.

“Is Brock Lesnar back for good?” Long asked. “I would like to see maybe Lesnar. Maybe Cena just one last time he challenges Brock Lesnar. Let’s go back and find some match where he destroyed somebody. Then maybe they have it seen and brought one last time. And that person that brought claim, he wiped out and did all this to that person shows up, causing interference, right there, seen against the wind.”

Long elaborated on the promo aspect of the feud, suggesting Lesnar could taunt Cena.

“Just have Brock ‘Nobody wants you. Okay, because nobody’s really challenging him yet. So, bro, I tell you what, I’ll give you one more. Might even do it with one hand tied behind my back.’ Maybe start something. And Cena slips over,” Long said.

**Discussion on John Cena’s Intercontinental Title Win**

Davis also discussed John Cena’s recent Intercontinental Championship victory over Dominik Mysterio on Monday Night Raw, which he called a “nice surprise.”

“John Cena wins the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio the other night. That was a surprise,” Davis said. “Dominic Mysterio and John Cena. Little did we think John Cena would win a championship just weeks before he’s about to leave WWE forever. So that was a nice surprise. I like the way that it was booked.”

However, Davis questioned the involvement of Triple H, who came to the ring to celebrate with Cena in his hometown of Boston.

“I’m just not sure why Triple H had to be in the ring during the entire thing. This is not about Triple H. This is about John Cena. And that’s just my personal opinion. It just seemed a little bit kind of out of whack for me to see that,” Davis stated.

A viewer, “Pretty Classy Lady,” shared a similar sentiment in the show’s chat, which Davis read on air:

“Triple H is an egomaniac. Nobody in that arena was there to see him. He should have let John Cena have his moment in his hometown.”
