Voice Actors in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
On September 12, 2025, Nintendo revealed many of the characters and voice actors who will be returning for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. A couple of months later, on November 12, the Big N surprised fans with the reveal of two brand-new characters, along with the actors bringing them to life.
Mario – Chris Pratt
Mario will be voiced by Chris Pratt in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It just wouldn’t make sense to have a Super Mario movie without Mario, and Pratt managed to nail the emotional tones needed to bring this moustachioed hero to life in the first film. Viewers will recognize Pratt from many Marvel films, the new Jurassic World movies, and, of course, the hit TV series Parks and Recreation.
Peach – Anya Taylor-Joy
Princess Peach (also known as Princess Toadstool) is voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy. She is another returning character, which makes sense given the dynamic between Mario and Bowser. Taylor-Joy is known for her roles in films like Split, Glass, the popular miniseries The Queen’s Gambit, and The Menu.
Luigi – Charlie Day
Luigi, Mario’s often scared but always brave brother, is voiced by Charlie Day. Luigi is another returning character in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Day is known for his work in comedy films such as Horrible Bosses, Fist Fight, and Vacation, as well as The LEGO Movie. He is also famous for his long-running TV series, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Bowser – Jack Black
Bowser is voiced by Jack Black. As with the previous three, you cannot have a Mario film without Mario’s nemesis, Bowser. Jack Black is known for his work in the hit band Tenacious D and his extensive film career, including roles in School of Rock, Kung Fu Panda, Jumanji, and A Minecraft Movie.
Toad – Keegan-Michael Key
Toad is voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. A returning character and an important figure in the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Toad is brought to life by Key, known for his work alongside Jordan Peele in the hilarious comedy series Key & Peele. Key has appeared in numerous films including The Predator, Get Out, Horrible Bosses 2, and TV roles in Fargo and Parks and Recreation.
Kamek – Kevin Michael Richardson
Kamek is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson and is the last of the confirmed returning characters from the first film. Richardson is well-known for his extensive voice acting career with major roles such as the Mauler Twins in Invincible, Principal Lewis in American Dad!, and Tartarus in Halo 2.
Rosalina – Brie Larson
Rosalina is one of the new confirmed characters in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and is voiced by Brie Larson. Larson is a household name thanks to her appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel, as well as acclaimed films like Room, 21 Jump Street, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Bowser Jr. – Benny Safdie
Bowser Jr. was the last of the new characters announced by Nintendo during the November 12, 2025, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct. The character will be voiced by Benny Safdie, known for his work as a writer and director with intense films, often collaborating with his brother Josh Safdie. Older viewers might recognize him for his films Good Time, Uncut Gems, and The Smashing Machine. He has also acted in Oppenheimer and Happy Gilmore 2.
