ARC Raiders launched a duo matchmaking system, but it’s not a duos mode

ARC Raiders received an update this week, accompanied by several additional details that were not included in the base patch notes. One notable development shared by Embark Studios is the testing and implementation of a duo matchmaking system.

It’s important to clarify that this is not a new duos mode. Instead, it’s a matchmaking system designed to increase the likelihood that duo queues will be matched against other duo queues. Similarly, the developers hope to implement comparable systems for solo and trio queues in the future.

Embark Studios provided further insights into this duo matchmaking system in a brief update blog focused on the in-game store and matchmaking. According to the developers, the duo matchmaking prioritization works by attempting to ensure that duos are matched with other duos, solos with solos, and trios with trios whenever possible.

While the system does not guarantee perfect matches—for example, a solo player might still face off against a duo or squad—it represents a step toward more balanced matchmaking. Embark Studios has also indicated that they will continue to monitor and adjust the system as needed moving forward.
