A Plymouth police officer is on leave due a criminal investigation launched last week into her off-duty conduct, the department said. Samantha Pelrine was placed on paid administrative leave last Tuesday, the Plymouth Police Department said in a statement, after Massachusetts State Police notified the department of a criminal investigation. Pelrine’s leave is “in accordance with department policy and procedure,” Plymouth police said. “Due to the active and ongoing nature of the investigation, we cannot provide any further details at this time,” the department said. A spokesperson for State Police confirmed the ongoing investigation, but declined to provide further information. Police referred questions to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office, which did not respond to inquiries Sunday night. Pelrine, born and raised in Plymouth, joined the department in April of 2022, she wrote in a Facebook post for the department celebrating National Women’s Month in 2023. “I believe I picked the right career for my personality and what I wanted from a job because while the range of emotions from this job can vary drastically, I know that in some instances I’m truly able to make a difference in someone’s life,” Pelrine wrote. “I enjoy the fact that this career is one that is ever changing and unpredictable.” Plymouth police are conducting an internal investigation into the allegations. “The Plymouth Police Department is committed to accountability and transparency with our community,” the department said. “Violations of department policy or state law will not be tolerated.”.
