AEW star Sammy Guevara recently raised concerns about a potential injury sustained during his latest match. Guevara was one of the standout performers on last Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite, marking a significant moment as his last appearance on the show had been back in October 2024. Over the past year, he has been active on both ROH and Collision, and currently holds the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
In the latest Dynamite episode, the Spanish God faced off against Bandido. Bandido, who is scheduled to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship on this week’s Maximum Carnage, emerged victorious in what many fans hailed as an excellent contest. The match showcased impressive skills from both stars, with Guevara even suffering a busted nose that caused him to bleed.
Speaking on his YouTube vlog after the match, the former TNT Champion expressed concern over the state of his nose, which appeared crooked. “I don’t think it broke, though. Does it look crooked? I think I bashed my nose in a match years ago and it’s been crooked ever since then,” he explained. [H/T Ringside News]
Despite delivering a strong performance, Guevara was visibly upset after his loss. He understood that a win on Dynamite could have revitalized his career, making the defeat all the more frustrating. During a backstage AEW Exclusive segment, Guevara opened up about his struggles and the emotional toll wrestling has taken on him.
“Am I alright? Let me ask you. Do you know what it’s like to fail at something over and over again? To try to climb to the top of the mountain, only to get knocked off repeatedly? Sometimes I want to quit. You don’t think I want to quit? I have tried over and over my entire life; this is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and sometimes I feel like this thing I’ve loved doesn’t love me back anymore,” he revealed.
