Bad Bunny Broke Records by Shakira, Karol G and Himself on World Tour Kickoff

Bad Bunny is set to tour the world throughout 2026, hitting South America, Australia, Asia, and Europe over the next seven months on the Debí Tirar Más Fotos (DTMF) World Tour. However, the trek actually launched in the final weeks of 2025 and has already become a record-breaker.

The tour kicked off with two shows on November 21-22 at Estadio Olímpico in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, those shows earned $7.9 million in ticket sales from 64,200 tickets sold, marking the highest-grossing engagement in the venue’s reported history. Bad Bunny surpassed previous stops by Justin Bieber, Coldplay, and Karol G, but most notably, he broke his own record, having grossed $7.7 million over two nights during his 2022 World’s Hottest Tour.

Following Santo Domingo, the DTMF World Tour traveled to Costa Rica for two shows at San José’s Estadio Nacional on December 5-6. There, Bad Bunny set records for the highest-grossing and best-selling engagement in venue history, bringing in $12.4 million from 115,000 tickets sold. Karol G previously held both titles with $8.6 million in gross sales and 105,000 tickets sold.

Next up was Mexico City, where Bad Bunny performed eight shows at Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol) from December 10-21. These performances grossed a staggering $86.7 million and sold 518,000 tickets. This marks the biggest gross and highest attendance in the venue’s history by a wide margin. He improved upon Shakira’s attendance record by 31% and surpassed her gross by 86%, set during seven shows in March 2025. Shakira’s numbers had already surpassed Metallica’s previous records by 56% (attendance) and 89% (gross).

Bad Bunny’s Mexico City shows averaged $10.8 million per night, making him the first artist ever to post eight-figure nightly grosses among the 344 reported shows at this Mexican stadium.

An important note on these records: Shakira returned to Estadio GNP Seguros later in 2025 during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, performing four shows in August and another in September. Altogether, her 12 shows at the stadium sold 668,000 tickets, outpacing Bad Bunny’s run in sheer attendance. However, Bad Bunny outgrossed her combined total, earning $86.7 million compared to her $76 million, despite playing four fewer shows.

In total, the first 12 shows of the DTMF World Tour grossed $107 million and sold 697,000 tickets—offering just a glimpse of what’s to come in 2026. The Latin American leg has already outperformed Bad Bunny’s previous regional run, which grossed $81.7 million over 22 dates during the World’s Hottest Tour. Back then, he averaged $3.7 million per show throughout Latin America, less than half of this tour’s impressive $8.9 million per show average.

Bad Bunny will return to the stage on Friday, January 9, in Santiago, kicking off a slate of 13 shows in South America. Having already played the biggest stadium of 2025 in Mexico City, that city may well represent the peak of the Latin American leg. However, given the massive success of the shows in Santo Domingo and San José, it’s likely that Bad Bunny will add another $70 million or more in earnings before heading off to Sydney, Tokyo, and a dozen European markets.

The DTMF World Tour will mark Bad Bunny’s first ticketed concerts in Australia, Asia, and Europe. With roughly three-quarters of the tour still ahead, it’s likely that he will continue to outdo himself, setting new Boxscore records along the way.

Currently, the World’s Hottest Tour stands as his personal best, grossing $314.1 million and selling 1.9 million tickets. Bad Bunny is already well on his way to surpassing that, potentially making the DTMF World Tour the biggest tour of his career.
