Rick Pitino considered adding a midseason point guard to St. John’s roster by dipping into the G-League or overseas but ultimately opted against it. The Hall of Fame coach looked into three potential players, though he declined to name them.

Pitino explained that he believes he has seen enough from Ian Jackson and Dylan Darling of late, making the addition unnecessary.

“We had some G-League opportunities we looked at, but I feel that it would hurt our chemistry,” Pitino told The Post on Friday as St. John’s prepared to host Providence on Saturday.

“I’ve put a lot of work into making Ian a point guard, a lot of work into making Dylan Darling better. In the end, I made a decision that we’re going to stick with the development of Ian and the development of Dylan. They’ve put in a lot of work since the summer.

“And although I can bring somebody in, maybe it will make us a little bit better. But in the end, I would rather stick with what I have.”
