Kentucky bounces back with blowout win over Eastern Illinois

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky bounced back from Tuesday night’s loss with an impressive 99-53 victory over Eastern Illinois inside Rupp Arena on Friday night. The Wildcats dominated throughout, securing their third consecutive win in the BBN United Tip-Off Classic by 25 points or more.

Mo Dioubate led all Kentucky scorers with 20 points against the Panthers. He was one of six Wildcats to score in double figures, showcasing the team’s balanced offensive attack. Dioubate also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, earning his first double-double as a Wildcat.

Jasper Johnson contributed off the bench, leading the team with seven assists. On the defensive end, Kentucky made life difficult for Eastern Illinois all night long. The Panthers managed to shoot just 33% from the field and committed 13 turnovers.

Defensively, Dioubate recorded a team-high two blocks and tied for the team lead with two steals, along with teammates Denzel Aberdeen and Trent Noah.

Looking ahead, Kentucky will travel to New York City on Tuesday for the Champions Classic against the Michigan State Spartans. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
