Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is just days away from diving into the undersea world of Bikini Bottom. But Sega and Sonic Team aren’t stopping there—they have exciting plans lined up for the game’s first season pass.
During Tuesday’s PlayStation State of Play Japan, several classic Sega characters were revealed as upcoming additions. Longtime Sega fans will remember NiGHTS, the lead character from the Sega Saturn cult classic *NiGHTS Into Dreams*. NiGHTS will be joining the race in his Dream Sleeper vehicle starting in December.
Following that, AiAi from the beloved *Super Monkey Ball* series will take the wheel with a planned January 2026 release. Then, tapping into Sonic’s comic book universe, Sega will bring fan-favorites Tangle and Whisper to CrossWorlds as playable racers in February 2026.
Excitingly, all of these characters will be added to *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* for free upon their release.
In addition to these free updates, the next premium DLC pack for the CrossWorlds Season Pass will feature SpongeBob SquarePants. First unveiled during June’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the SpongeBob pack includes both SpongeBob and Patrick as racers, the Patty Wagon vehicle, the Bikini Bottom Course, themed music tracks, and six emotes.
Fans eager to race alongside Bikini Bottom’s iconic residents won’t have to wait much longer—the SpongeBob pack is set to launch on Wednesday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET.
