13 things you probably didn’t know about Battlefield 6

Neat Things You Didn’t Know About Battlefield 6

There’s a lot going on in Battlefield 6: from its classes, their abilities and equipment, to weapons, vehicles, and destruction. But did you know there are also tons of little details that make your life easier or simply improve the experience? We’re cataloging as many of these as we can find right here.

These small details won’t drastically change how you play Battlefield 6, but most make the gameplay more enjoyable and, sometimes, more immersive.

Pull Out Your Class Gadget or Knife to Run Faster

If you’ve ever seen teammates sprinting out of spawn or toward an objective with their knife out, it’s because you run about 10–15% faster while doing so. Of course, you’re completely vulnerable if you run into an enemy with a gun, but if you’re sure it’s safe, pulling out your knife can help you get where you’re going quicker.

Interestingly, the melee speed boost does not apply when using the sledgehammer—that somehow makes more sense than the knife bonus! You run faster with both the default knife and the special one you get for completing the campaign. The speed boost also applies when holding most class gadgets like the Repair Tool and Defibrillator. So if you’re running a sledgehammer, pulling out either gadget will get you moving faster.

Holding Down the Defib Paddle Until It Beeps Revives Teammates at Full Health

You can quickly press the defib button to spam revive downed teammates, but they’ll come back at only 50% health. However, if you hold down the defib use button for a few seconds, you’ll hear a high-pitched beep. Reviving teammates after the beep brings them back at full 100% health, making sure they’re ready for action immediately.

Note that Support players can drag revive twice as fast as other classes, and dragging also revives teammates at full health. Unfortunately, neither method reloads your teammate’s weapons, so if their gun is empty, that will still be an issue.

Shooting Enemy Tanks in the Back Armor Does Much More Damage

All tanks have weaker armor at the rear. Attacking with any launcher from behind deals double damage. We recommend the RPG-7V2 due to its highest raw DPS in the game. Check out our detailed guide on how to destroy tanks for more tips.

You Can Overflow Your Default Gadget Inventory Using a Support Supply Bag

Running out of rockets before destroying an enemy vehicle is frustrating as an Engineer. Standing next to a Support Supply Bag for a while allows you to resupply beyond your starting gadget limits. You can have up to five RPG shots, six Mines, and more.

This mechanic applies to other class gadgets, such as Assault grenade launchers and Recon C-4, letting you stock up more than usual.

You Can Strap C-4 to a Recon Drone and Fly It Over to a Tank, Then Blow It Up

This is a hilarious tactic once you unlock C-4 as Recon. You can deploy your Recon Drone, attach explosives to it, and fly it over an enemy tank to blow it up.

There are a couple of catches: the extra weight drains the drone’s battery rapidly, limiting your range, and the delay between exiting the drone and detonating gives tanks time to escape. Timing is key, but obliterating tanks using the Recon Drone never gets old.

You can also use the drone to detonate mines from a distance, though that’s a less fun application.

There’s an Anti-Camper Button That Activates the Smokestack on Operation Firestorm

Although it’s rare to see Recon players camping the top of the tallest smokestack on Operation Firestorm, there’s a built-in way to get them off. Near the base of the stack on the Conquest C flag, a button labeled “Warning Valve Purge” can be pressed to release massive flames from the smokestack, burning anyone at its peak to a crisp.

You Can Pick Up Your Supply Bag as a Support to Lower the Cooldown of Your Next One

The Supply Bag is one of the most powerful and universally useful gadgets, but its default cooldown is quite restrictive. If you interact with your own Supply Bag before the cooldown ends by picking it up, you almost completely reset the timer. Always pick up your bag whether you’re healing yourself or others to maximize its effectiveness.

You Can Resupply Off a Support Player’s Back

If your Support teammates aren’t dropping Supply Bags often enough, don’t worry. You can run up to a Support player and interact with their in-game character to get a one-time resupply without their input.

You Can Destroy Enemy Equipment with a Recon Drone

Fly your Recon Drone within 40 meters of enemy equipment like Deploy Beacons, Mines, Target Designators, etc. Aim at them and press the Fire button to destroy. Destroying mines and other lethal equipment causes them to explode, and if an enemy player is within the blast radius, they’ll die to their own teammate’s equipment.

Thanks to Jackfrags for highlighting this little-known detail!

You Can Move Slowly in a Tank to Avoid Activating Mines

When driving a tank, hold down the Crawl button to move much slower. Moving at this reduced speed prevents you from triggering mines, letting you navigate minefields cautiously and safely.

You Can Destroy Vehicles with the Sledgehammer

The sledgehammer deals damage to vehicles as well as destructible environmental parts. While the damage is minor, a particularly oblivious tank or truck driver can still be taken down by determined Support players wielding this mighty tool.

This also technically works on jets and helicopters, but unless BF6 introduces a wingsuit, “sledging” air vehicles is unlikely.

If You’re on Fire, Go Prone to Put It Out

If someone throws an incendiary grenade at you or you catch fire otherwise, immediately dropping to prone will extinguish the flames. Battlefield Studios clearly took fire safety classes: stop, drop, and “roll” indeed.

Shoot the Concrete Tube and Crane Counterweight to Drop Them on Mirak Valley

On the Mirak Valley map, you can bring down the crane located between the C and D Conquest points, as well as the concrete cylinder hanging from it.

Shooting a single rocket or a lot of bullets will bring down the cylinder, but it takes two rockets and more bullets to topple the entire crane. Both objects are lethal to anyone caught underneath when they fall.

These are some of the neat little things we found that you probably didn’t know about Battlefield 6. We’ll continue adding more as we discover them during our gameplay.
