WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Mekhi Mason and Tre’von Spillers each scored 20 points to lead Wake Forest to an 88-74 victory over American University in their season opener on Monday night.
Mason also pulled down 10 rebounds, securing a double-double for the game. He contributed 13 points in the first half, shooting an efficient 5-for-8 from the field.
Despite American University closing the gap at times, Wake Forest maintained control throughout the game to secure the win.
