**President Donald Trump Issues Stern Warning to Nigeria Over Persecution of Christians**
President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, demanding immediate action to stop the ongoing persecution and killing of Christians—or risk losing U.S. foreign aid and facing potential American military intervention.
The announcement, made Friday on Truth Social, marks one of the administration’s strongest statements yet regarding escalating violence in Nigeria’s northern and central regions, where radical Islamist groups have targeted Christian communities.
In his post, President Trump declared:
*“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”*
This statement came shortly after Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing widespread reports of violence against Christians and a lack of sufficient government response.
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN,’ but that is the least of it,” Trump wrote in a separate Truth Social post.
*“When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 worldwide), something must be done! I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me. The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and numerous other countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the world!”*
The administration’s sharp condemnation follows reports from international watchdogs documenting ongoing massacres of Christian villagers in Nigeria by Islamist militants, including Boko Haram and Fulani extremists. Human rights organizations have long called for stronger U.S. involvement to pressure the Nigerian government to protect religious minorities.
Among those who publicly expressed support for Trump’s stance was rapper Nicki Minaj, who posted her reaction early Saturday on X. Minaj, a practicing Christian, praised the president for taking a strong position against religious persecution.
“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God,” she wrote in response to Trump’s message.
*“No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”*
Her message drew praise from some corners but sharp criticism from many of her followers who objected to her support for Trump.
One user wrote, “Nicki Minaj really managed to disappoint me over and over again since last year. Sometimes her choices and the way she acts is just insane. Supporting Donald Trump is crazy.”
Another post read, “Millions of families can’t feed their families today due to this government shutdown & Nicki Minaj using her platform to praise Donald Trump. What a weird a** b***h!”
In response to Minaj’s comments, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz extended an invitation for her to visit the U.S. Embassy in New York. He stated,
*“If you ever find yourself in New York, come by the US Embassy to the United Nations. I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world.”*
The situation in Nigeria remains under review as the U.S. government evaluates next steps. Both the State Department and the Department of Defense have been instructed to assess the scope of ongoing violence and determine possible measures to ensure the safety of Christian communities.
The administration has indicated that further announcements on potential sanctions or military options could follow if Nigeria fails to act swiftly to curb the attacks.
