After *F1 The Movie* shattered box office records worldwide, legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that discussions are already underway for a possible sequel, with Lewis Hamilton taking on an even bigger creative role.
Speaking to *Forbes*, the veteran producer revealed that the team has started developing ideas for what could be the next chapter of the Brad Pitt-led Formula 1 saga. “We met with Lewis Hamilton a couple of weeks ago, and started talking about some ideas,” Bruckheimer said, hinting that Apple Films and the creative team are interested in continuing the story.
The news comes after *F1 The Movie* became one of the biggest original hits of 2025, grossing over $629 million globally since its June release. It became Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing movie ever, as well as the most successful sports film in history.
Directed by *Top Gun: Maverick* director Joseph Kosinski, the film was co-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Lewis Hamilton, and Apple Studios. It follows Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, an ex-F1 driver making a return to the fictional outfit APXGP alongside rookie teammate Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris. Javier Bardem stars as team owner Rubén Cervantes, while Hamilton served as executive producer and technical advisor to ensure racing authenticity.
Lewis Hamilton has also launched his own film production company, Dawn Apollo Films, following the success of the movie.
“I’m in the process of figuring it out but storytelling is something I’m really passionate about. More than ever, we need inspirational stories out there, given the dark times we live in,” Hamilton shared. “I love comedy and I’ve got a particular idea for a television show. I’m working on a couple of animation movie ideas, and we’re getting sent so much stuff since the *F1* movie happened—it’s crazy. But it’s not about doing lots and lots of projects, it’s more like Quentin Tarantino does it—quality rather than quantity.”
The film’s realism was achieved through a practical production approach using actual cars, tracks, and drivers. Lewis Hamilton personally trained Pitt and Idris for the driving sequences and played a key role in ensuring the project accurately portrayed the world of Formula 1.
### Lewis Hamilton’s Co-Producer Picks Silverstone as His Favorite Track
Among all the racing circuits featured in the film, Jerry Bruckheimer has a clear favorite: Silverstone. The track holds a special place in Lewis Hamilton’s legacy as well, being his home race.
The seven-time champion has won the British Grand Prix a record nine times, secured eight poles, and holds the fastest lap at the Northamptonshire circuit.
“My favorite is Silverstone. It’s the home of F1, and you have to be there to experience it,” Bruckheimer said. “There are 400,000 people there. They’re in campers, camping out the entire weekend. It’s a huge operation. It’s almost like a Woodstock, and it’s a great racetrack. It’s unbelievable. To have a great race, you need to be able to pass.”
### On the Track: Hamilton’s 2025 Season So Far
Away from the big screen, Hamilton’s 2025 campaign has been far from dominant. Now racing for Ferrari, the seven-time champion has yet to stand on the podium in a Grand Prix this season, though he did secure a victory at the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint earlier in the year.
As the paddock heads to the Brazilian Grand Prix, where Hamilton has won three times, the Briton will be hoping to rediscover his form during the upcoming sprint weekend at Interlagos.
