Unexpected Initiative Quest Guide | ARC Raiders
“Unexpected Initiative” is a quest you receive from Tian Wen in ARC Raiders. Tian Wen is concerned about what might happen if Celeste is the only one managing Speranza’s greenhouses. She believes that being self-sufficient is a great idea. By helping her start her own little plantation, she promises to cut you in on the profits! If that sounds like a deal, read on for all the details to complete this quest.
Fertilizer and Water Pump
The first part of this quest requires you to find two items: a Fertilizer and a Water Pump. Both of these are located within the Buried City map, so you can collect them both in one run.
To get the Fertilizer, head to the Grandioso Apartments, a residential area on the western side of the Buried City. Once you arrive at the apartment building, make your way up to the rooftop. There, you’ll find some large pots that you can interact with to collect the Fertilizer.
Next, to find the Water Pump, go to one of the buildings near Piazza Roma in the Buried City. Specifically, it’s the building directly southwest of the Piazza Roma label on the map. Again, climb up to the rooftop where you’ll see an interactable pump next to a planter. Interact with the pump to pick up the Water Pump.
Make sure to grab both items before leaving the area. Once collected, extract and return to Tian Wen in Speranza with the Fertilizer and Water Pump to complete this part of the quest. If you want to be cautious, consider placing one item in your Safe Pocket — that way, if you happen to die, you only need to retrieve the other.
Lemons
For the final part of the quest, you need to collect 3 Lemons. The best place to find them is in the Olive Grove area on the Blue Gate map.
Once inside Olive Grove, look for smaller fruit trees. You’ll usually find fruit on the ground—either Apricots or Lemons. While Apricots are not required for this quest, we recommend picking them up anyway since they are valuable items that can be used to upgrade Scrappy’s service.
Additionally, you can interact with the trees by giving them a little kick, which almost always causes one more fruit to fall. This is a good way to increase your chances of collecting the Lemons you need.
Be aware that while Olive Grove is generally safe from ARCs, it is a popular spot for PvP among players. This can be unpredictable depending on your matchups. To be safe, avoid bringing gear you wouldn’t want to lose. Also, consider placing the Lemons you collect in your Safe Pocket to protect them.
If you’re looking for alternative locations, other areas marked as Nature zones on various maps may also have similar trees. However, these spots are less reliable unless the Lush Blooms event is active.
Completing the Quest
Once you have collected 3 Lemons, return to Tian Wen. Hand over the Lemons to her, and you will have successfully completed the “Unexpected Initiative” quest in ARC Raiders!
