Final Fantasy 14 is removing class & level restrictions on glamour

Glamours have long provided a fun way for Final Fantasy 14 players to express themselves. By allowing players to overlay the appearance of desired armor over their actual gear, glamours enable greater customization without sacrificing stats.

However, a longstanding restriction on this system is set to disappear in the upcoming December update. Soon, players will be able to use any glamours they want on their armor, without limitations based on level or job/class.

Square Enix revealed this exciting change in a recent Letter from the Producer video. The development team announced that Patch 7.4, launching on all platforms in mid-December, will remove level restrictions on glamours. For example, previously, if you had a Lancer’s glamour for a chest plate, you could not equip it on a Dark Knight’s armor. That will no longer be the case, as level and class constraints will be lifted.

One notable exception remains with weapons. Due to mechanical differences and visual integrity, weapon glamours will still have some restrictions to prevent them from appearing broken or inconsistent.

This update is great news for fashion-forward players eager to experiment with their character’s look. Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.4 promises to be a major quality-of-life improvement, adding even more freedom to character customization.

This new glamour freedom comes on the heels of a recent collaboration event that introduced Monster Hunter-themed items, characters, cosmetics, and even the mighty Arkveld dragon to the game—further expanding the exciting content available to players.

All in all, Patch 7.4 is shaping up to be an update well worth looking forward to!
