**Red Chillies Entertainment Files Official Reply to Sameer Wankhede’s Defamation Suit Over Netflix Show _The Ba***ds of Bollywood_**
Red Chillies Entertainment has submitted its official response to the defamation lawsuit filed by Sameer Wankhede against the Netflix series _The Ba***ds of Bollywood_, which Wankhede alleges was designed to tarnish his reputation.
Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer who led the high-profile 2021 drugs case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, approached the court claiming that the show portrayed a character resembling him in both appearance and mannerisms.
### Red Chillies Entertainment’s Standpoint
In its reply, Red Chillies Entertainment emphasized that _The Ba***ds of Bollywood_ is a Bollywood satire where all characters are intentionally exaggerated to enhance humor. The production house argued that Wankhede’s complaint is an attempt to limit artistic and creative freedom, describing his stance as an example of “hypersensitivity.”
The response further highlighted that Wankhede’s public image had already undergone significant scrutiny well before the release of the series. According to the filing, the former officer’s role in the Aryan Khan case attracted considerable criticism and ridicule, as reflected in various news reports, social media discussions, and public commentary at that time.
Red Chillies asserted that these pre-existing perceptions clearly show that Wankhede’s reputation had been impacted earlier. The lawsuit, they argue, is an effort to silence satirical portrayals that fall within the bounds of creative expression.
### Legal Representation and Requests
Represented by senior advocates Neeraj Kishan Kaul and Shyel Trehan, Red Chillies Entertainment requested the court to allow the series to remain intact, warning that removing the contested scenes would disrupt the narrative flow of the show.
The makers clarified that the series does not explicitly name or reference Sameer Wankhede, and the police officer character is depicted as an “overzealous” cop—a common trope in dark comedies and satires.
### Current Status of the Case
The matter was heard before Justice Purushindra Kumar on Thursday and has now been adjourned to November 10 for further proceedings.
### About _The Ba***ds of Bollywood_
Streaming on Netflix, _The Ba***ds of Bollywood_ has attracted significant attention for its unapologetically sharp critique of celebrity culture, media frenzy, and the moral ambiguity within the film industry. These themes continue to fuel debates over where the line between satire and defamation should be drawn.
