Halloween Forecast: Is it a trick or a treat?

A chill will be in the air across much of the country for this year’s Halloween trick-or-treaters. The good news is that mostly dry conditions are expected just in time for the festivities, although a few spots could still see rain lingering into the night.

### Northeast

For much of Halloween, the Northeast will experience a wet and windy day. Thankfully, most of the rain will clear by sunset, leaving only a few showers across Upstate New York and the northern parts of New England. Trick-or-treaters heading out should bring an extra layer and hold on to those witches’ hats!

A gusty northwest wind will bring temperatures down into the 40s and 50s along the coast, with even colder temperatures farther inland—dropping to the 30s after sunset. Winds near the coast could reach 30-40 mph at times, making it feel even chillier.

### Southeast

The forecast looks a lot less frightening for the Southeast, where clear skies and no chance of rain are expected. However, it will be cool, with temperatures slipping into the 50s in areas as far south as Central Florida. Perfect weather for a crisp Halloween night!

### Central U.S.

Most of the Central United States will also see dry and cool weather on Halloween evening. The exception will be parts of the Northern Plains, where scattered showers may persist. Temperatures will range from the 30s and 40s in the Northern Plains to the 50s and 60s across Texas and the Mid-South.

### West

Dry weather is likely for almost the entire West as high pressure remains in control. The only exception could be the coastal parts of Washington, where another atmospheric river is expected to bring rain onshore.

The Pacific Northwest will be cool, with temperatures falling into the 40s and 50s, while milder weather is expected in the Southwest.

Overall, while it will be a chilly night for many, most areas should enjoy dry conditions just in time for Halloween festivities. Don’t forget to bundle up and stay safe while trick-or-treating!
