Ex-WWE writer Vince Russo believes that Triple H is set to face tremendous pressure from two giant names if WWE continues on its current trajectory.
On the latest episode of BroDown, host Mac Davis and Vince Russo discussed the current state of WWE. Russo expressed his opinion that the old guard backstage— including Triple H and Michael Hayes—is holding the company back.
### Pressure from Netflix and ESPN
Vince Russo believes that ESPN and Netflix will start putting pressure on Triple H and WWE if the company continues in its current direction. He stated:
> “If they continue down this road, I would have to believe that the pressure is going to mount from Netflix and ESPN. I’m not even including the USA Network or Saudi Arabia. They’ll take whatever. ESPN and Netflix won’t. The bottom line is there’s a part of me that asks myself, does Triple H think this is good? Is that what we’re getting because he thinks this is good?”

Russo has openly discussed how he believes the streaming giant Netflix will be increasing its demands on WWE, likely due to the hefty $500-million-a-year price tag Netflix is paying for the rights to broadcast Monday Night RAW.
On a more recent episode of BroDown, Russo elaborated on why he thinks WWE is under heat from Netflix:
> “First of all, I believe it. I’m certain they’re getting heat from Netflix. I’m certain they are. There’s no question they are. Let’s face it, at some point when they have no ability to improve the shows, they can’t get away with it anymore. This isn’t USA Network. With USA Network, they ruled the roost. They were the biggest thing on the network. ESPN ain’t USA Network, Netflix ain’t USA Network.”
He continued:
> “When you got billions of dollars, you ain’t working nobody. You’re not working them, man. So now you’re at the point where now you’re getting a bit of pressure and because, you’re not creative, you don’t know what to do.”
### What’s Next for WWE?
As WWE approaches the first anniversary of its Netflix deal, it will be interesting to see how the company responds to this mounting pressure. With nine years left on the contract, Netflix will undoubtedly want to maximize its investment, and WWE will be obligated to deliver compelling content to satisfy both Netflix and ESPN.
