Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr takes Shohei Ohtani deep in third inning

Game 4 of the World Series is in full swing, featuring an exciting matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Dodgers jumped on the board early with a sacrifice fly from Kiké Hernández in the bottom of the second inning. Hernández’s fly ball allowed Max Muncy to score, putting the Dodgers ahead.

Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber faced a tough situation with runners on first and third and only one out but managed to escape the jam by getting the final out on a flyout. Hernández continued to shine defensively, starting the game by robbing Blue Jays left fielder Nathan Lukes of an at-bat with an impressive catch reaching over the stands.

In the top of the third inning, Nathan Lukes singled with one out, setting the stage for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to step up. Guerrero Jr. responded with a towering two-run home run to left field off Dodgers starter Shohei Ohtani. The ball traveled an impressive 395 feet, giving the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.

This Game 4 contest follows a historic Game 3, which turned into the longest World Series game of all time, lasting 18 innings. Notably, Shohei Ohtani reached base safely in all nine of his at-bats during that game. Before recording a strikeout in the third inning, Ohtani had reached base 11 consecutive times, including a walk in the first inning that was not intentional.

The Blue Jays are playing without George Springer due to injury. Springer left Game 3 with the injury and was unable to even serve as the designated hitter tonight. Blue Jays manager John Schneider shared during a FOX interview with Ken Rosenthal that he believes Springer has a chance to return at some point during the series.

As the fourth inning is underway, Shohei Ohtani remains on the mound pitching for the Dodgers, keeping fans on the edge of their seats in this thrilling World Series matchup.
