Ken Maracle, a member of the Cayuga Nation, has dedicated his efforts to remaking historic belts that hold significant cultural and diplomatic importance.
To date, he has recreated more than 50 belts that Indigenous nations originally used in the negotiation and confirmation of agreements. These belts serve as powerful symbols of treaty-making and convey the deep traditions embedded within Indigenous governance.
Through his work, Ken Maracle helps preserve and revitalize these important artifacts, ensuring that the history and meaning behind each belt continue to be recognized and respected today.
