Texans CB Derek Stingley fined $11,593 for facemask penalty

The NFL has fined Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. for a facemask penalty committed during Monday night’s game. Stingley will forfeit $11,593 due to the infraction, which resulted in the helmet of Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba being knocked off.

The facemask penalty sparked a brief altercation on the Texans’ sideline, where linebacker Christian Harris was seen shoving Smith-Njigba. Despite the scuffle, only Stingley was penalized financially.

Meanwhile, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was not fined for an unnecessary roughness penalty after tackling Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold out of bounds.
