Despite the current ceasefire, several people have been injured, some seriously, following incidents in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources reported on Saturday.
One person was seriously injured by Israeli shelling northwest of the southern city of Rafah, according to sources at the nearby Nasser Hospital. The area is under Israeli military control. When asked, the Israeli army said it was investigating the report.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that two people were also injured in an Israeli air strike on a vehicle in the town of Bani Suhailam near Khan Younis. An Israeli military spokesman acknowledged awareness of the report but could not confirm the incident.
The Hamas-controlled health authority stated that 93 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, with many of the deaths occurring about a week ago.
The Israeli army confirmed that two soldiers were killed in attacks in the south of the Gaza Strip last Sunday. Following this, Israel conducted the heaviest air strikes since the start of the ceasefire, which, according to hospital reports, resulted in 44 Palestinian deaths.
Since then, the situation has calmed down considerably. However, isolated incidents still occur. The Israeli army said it has fired on individuals who entered and approached soldiers beyond the so-called “yellow line.” As part of the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli military has withdrawn behind this line and controls the territory there.
It is important to note that the information provided by both sides cannot currently be independently verified.
