Dax Shepard was spotted out in public for the first time since his wife, Kristen Bell, faced backlash over her “tone-deaf” anniversary post.
The actor, 50, was seen riding a dirt bike without a helmet on Friday. He sported a blue T-shirt, dark denim jeans, and a baseball cap during the fun-filled outing.
This new sighting comes just days after the 45-year-old actress made headlines for sharing a questionable tribute on their 12th wedding anniversary.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” Bell wrote alongside a photo of the couple hugging.
Shortly after the post went public, many critics pointed out that the “Nobody Wants This” star appeared to be making light of murder during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
One user reacted, “That’s a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say considering it’s domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died at the hands of the man they trusted.” Another added, “Kristen, there’s no way you posted this during Domestic Violence Awareness Month 😭.”
The show “Dateline” also responded, commenting, “Screenshotted.”
A national advocacy group later condemned Bell for downplaying domestic violence in her wedding anniversary post. However, some supporters defended the “Frozen” star, calling her critics “too sensitive.”
As of now, the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star has not addressed the backlash. Bell has since limited comments on her social media accounts, skipped a scheduled interview on the “Today” show, and ignored the controversy during her Thursday appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
