A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, but Emma Stone couldn’t go by just anything.
One year after the *Bugonia* star admitted she wishes she could go by her birth name, Emily Stone, she shared that she wasn’t always dead set on her now-famous professional moniker.
“I actually adopted a stage name for six months,” Emma revealed during an Oct. 22 appearance on *The Late Show with Stephen Colbert*. “Because the Screen Actors Guild, it’s like a business bureau, you can only have one person with that name. I was 16, and I decided I wanted to be ‘Riley,’ so I was ‘Riley Stone.’”
And while the two-time Oscar winner thought it was a “beautiful” name, an awkward encounter she had made her settle on her current title.
