**Wahine Tennis Duo Upsets No. 2 Seed to Advance to Semifinals**

The University of Hawai‘i women’s tennis team scored a major victory on Sunday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Southwest Regionals in San Diego. The Wahine doubles team of senior transfer Sophie Rachor and true freshman Grete Gull pulled off an upset over the second-seeded duo to advance to today’s semifinal round.

Rachor, a senior from Concordia Irvine, and Gull, hailing from Kuressaare, Estonia, defeated Pepperdine’s 21st-ranked team of Alexia Harmon and Anastasiia Grechkin with a final score of 8-5.

In consolation singles action, UH’s Emma Forgac earned a solid win against San Diego’s Kristina Nordikyan. Forgac shut out her opponent in the decisive third set, finishing the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.

**Men’s Team Falls in Round of 16 at ITA Southwest Regionals**

Meanwhile, Hawai‘i’s men’s doubles team of Azuma Visaya and Kosuke Nakanishi competed in the Round of 16 on Sunday at the Kiwanis Tennis Center in Tempe, Arizona. The fifth-seeded UCLA duo of Rudy Quan and Aadarsh Tripathi edged out the Rainbow Warriors’ team in a close match, winning 8-4 to advance to the semifinals.

In singles consolation matches, UH’s Toa Maeda was defeated by UC Santa Barbara’s Lucca Liu with a score of 6-1, 6-2. Additionally, UH’s Adriano Dzenhev lost to UCSB’s Karel Fromel, 6-3, 6-2.

Sunday marked the final day of competition for the Rainbow Warriors at the Southwest Regionals. Looking ahead, Azuma Visaya will next compete at the ITA Conference Masters Championship on November 6 in San Diego.
