**The New Siri Slated for Release Next Year May Have a Problem: It’s Not That Good**
Ever since Apple Intelligence was showcased at WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) in 2024, iPhone users have eagerly anticipated a better Siri digital assistant. After numerous delays, the new Siri is expected to launch early next year, barring unforeseen complications. However, there are concerns that it might not live up to expectations.
### Concerns About the New Siri
In his newsletter *Power On*, industry insider Mark Gurman delivered some troubling news: there are already worries within Apple about the performance of the new Siri. This is disappointing, especially since rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and Google’s Pixel 10 are considered far ahead in AI capabilities thanks to Google’s Gemini.
Even Chinese competitors like Xiaomi, who utilize heavily modified versions of modern AI models, are outperforming the iPhone 17 in this area.
### Further Delays Could Cripple the iPhone
Apple has delayed the new Siri for too long, and its current AI features pale in comparison to competitors. Additional setbacks could negatively impact iPhone sales, putting the iPhone 17 at risk just months after its release.

### Apple’s Possible Strategies
Apple has considered acquiring a third-party AI developer like Perplexity AI and is also reportedly contemplating seeking assistance from Google. Currently, many Apple Intelligence features rely on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Apple’s efforts to replace this technology with its own Siri have not yet succeeded.
At this point, Apple needs to make a decisive move: either commit double the resources to perfect Siri or let another company handle it. The company was slow to jump onto the AI hype train and is now facing the consequences.
### Siri Needs to Launch Next Year—No Matter What
In my opinion, the new Siri must be released on schedule next year, even if it’s not perfect. Apple cannot afford to wait until it reaches parity with Google’s Gemini, nor can it continue to appear uncertain about its AI assistant’s future.
For years, Siri has faced heavy criticism. Now that Apple has made efforts to improve it, the least it can do is release the better version that already exists and continue building from there.
