Kaiser Permanente returns to normal operations after 5-day strike

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Kaiser Permanente has announced that it is returning to normal operations following the conclusion of a five-day strike early Sunday morning.

Approximately 30,000 health care workers represented by the Alliance of Health Care Unions returned to work at 7 a.m. on October 19. During the strike, Kaiser maintained operations at its hospitals and clinics with support from doctors, managers, and thousands of contracted nurses and staff.

In a statement, Kaiser expressed gratitude, saying, “We are deeply grateful to our front-line care teams who leaned in to ensure the continuity of outstanding patient care last week.”

Kaiser and the union plan to resume contract negotiations on October 22 and 23.
