With 119 receiving yards, Justin Jefferson will be the fastest to 8,000

Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson has the chance to make a little history on Sunday. Jefferson will be playing his 83rd regular-season game against the Eagles, entering the contest with 7,881 career receiving yards.

With just 119 yards, Jefferson would become the fastest player to reach 8,000 receiving yards, according to NBC Sports research. The current record is held by Julio Jones, who reached 8,000 yards in 85 games. This means Jefferson has two games to set a new benchmark.

In his last two games, Jefferson has been on a tear, posting 123 yards against the Browns and 126 yards against the Steelers. His production has notably increased since Carson Wentz took over at quarterback for the injured J.J. McCarthy (ankle).

Interestingly, in the two games with McCarthy as the starter, Jefferson totaled only 125 receiving yards. This contrast suggests the Vikings might prefer to continue starting Wentz until McCarthy is fully ready to run the offense as effectively.

Beyond individual milestones, the Vikings have a bigger goal: improving their record to 4-2 by defeating the currently 4-2 Eagles this Sunday. The matchup promises to be an exciting test for Jefferson and the Vikings offense.
